Development & Construction Accountant

A growing real estate private equity firm specializing in affordable and multi-family housing is seeking a Development & Construction Accountant. This newly created role will support development projects nationwide, ensuring strong financial oversight and successful project execution. Responsibilities

Manage post-closing development transactions and maintain project financial records. Process and oversee monthly construction loan draw requisitions for tax credit rehabilitation and new construction projects. Maintain, reconcile, and monitor development budgets, including tracking construction costs and project reimbursements. Coordinate payments to contractors and manage equity installments with investor partners. Prepare and review Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and other tax credit documentation in coordination with CPAs and third parties. Interpret and implement construction contracts, partnership agreements, loan documents, and related financial models. Collaborate with lenders, investors, contractors, architects, and internal teams to ensure timely completion of key project milestones. Ensure compliance with LIHTC and other regulatory requirements. Assist management with ad hoc financial and development-related projects as needed. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 2+ years of experience in construction accounting, development accounting, or real estate project management. LIHTC experience and affordable housing background required. Familiarity with construction documents (AIA G702/G703/G704, lien waivers, change orders, certificates of completion). Strong understanding of development budgets, cost certifications, and financial reporting. Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Real Page, Yardi, or similar systems a plus. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. CPA or CPA firm experience preferred but not required. Benefits Highlights
