JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Animal Services Assistant Manager, responsible for front-desk operations and customer service at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS). Level I of II in Animal Services Specialists. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Performs front-desk reception and customer service Processes intake of stray, owner-surrendered, community cats, and rabies-quarantine animals Reviews animal microchip data: may contact microchip company, veterinarian and/or registered pet owners to facilitate return Records documentation of animal health, behavior, medication, and vaccination status Reviews and processes applications and provides counseling for adoptions and fosters Processes payments, issues receipt and balances a cash drawer Performs data entry and maintains electronic documentation files Receives and distributes deliveries of supplies and donations Performs janitorial duties to maintain the administrative areas of the shelter Follows all safety measures and policies, including proper animal restraints and reading animal behavioral cues, and promptly reports any safety incidents to leadership Performs special duties as assigned ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, repetitive motions and standing Position involves lifting and carrying of animals and equipment up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and exertion of up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force to move objects Ability to hear and/or see alert cues regarding animal and staff security

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment Frequent handling of animals, including contact with waste and blood Exposure to unpleasant smells and a noisy and wet environment associated with a shelter Exposure animals that are agitated or injured that may attempt to bite or scratch

IRREGULAR HOURS

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement May be deemed essential personnel for emergency situations at discretion of Director

High school diploma or equivalent One (1) year of administrative experience, preferably in a customer-service role One (1) year cash-handling experience

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required within thirty (30) days of employment Valid driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Three (3) years of administrative experience, preferably in a customer service role Experience in animal behavior, health, or welfare field Bilingual (Spanish)
