Williamson County
Reporting directly to the Director of Communications & Media Relations, responsible for maintaining positive county image and community relations through various county communications and events in support of the Commissioners Court and county departments. Writes and produces content for the public, social media, and media outlets including drafting and distributing articles, press releases, advertisements, newsletters, and brochures.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Creates and produces social media content and graphics Collaborates with media outlets to coordinate official interviews, press conferences, and other public media requests and events Develops, designs, and distributes county specialty e-newsletters including overseeing the collection of materials and content Coordinates and assists with county events and aids county departments, specifically the Department of Infrastructure, Parks Department, Facilities Management, and others, with distributing information to the public Rotates responsibility for on-call media inquiries after business hours and for emergencies Responds and interacts directly with the public to answer questions on the roads voicemail and roads email Updates the website with project information and graphics Coordinates outreach activities to include public involvement for projects, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, media conferences, open houses, public meetings, town halls, etc. Serves as department liaison for Public Affairs Office and various committees Assists with providing insight on marketing, branding, positioning, and communication strategies Tracks and monitors digital feedback and engagement analytics for social media and other county news outlets Participates in emergency response and recovery for events such as floods, storms, tornadoes, and other natural and man-made disasters with informational content Provides administrative and media relations support to various county departments Responds to comments/feedback as necessary through email, phone, or social media messages Tracks and monitors coverage by news outlets Assists in developing and implementing a social media communication strategy for disseminating information Attends all meetings and training as required Performs special duties as assigned ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing, and occasional lifting/carrying Position involves safely operating a motor vehicle ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Work is primarily indoors with occasional work outdoors for events Travel between work sites, as required IRREGULAR HOURS

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, or related field and three (3) years of public information, public relations, social media management, or similar programs; OR an equal combination of education and experience Prior AP style writing and social media content creation experience LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required within thirty (30) days of employment Valid Texas driver’s license PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual: Spanish/English Knowledge of Incident Command System and emergency response EMPLOYMENT TESTING
