Your Opportunity
The Grid Integration Specialist (Integration Specialist) acts as a subject matter expert within the Policy & Regulatory team, delivering market research, regulatory knowledge, and a comprehensive understanding of North American interconnection requirements and grid integration processes to support the Policy & Regulatory and MTC teams’ energy clients. The role focuses on Independent Power Producers, large load customers, utilities, public utility commissions and regulatory authorities, FERC, and related energy market research. Responsibilities include delivering client interconnection applications from scoping to preparation, managing interconnection deliverables, regulatory strategy, and portfolio strategy. The Specialist will conduct ongoing policy, regulatory and energy market research to stay current in North American energy, water, and industrial sectors.
Your Key Responsibilities
Work with the Practice Leader, Policy & Regulatory and the MTC team to implement strategic direction across markets.
Refine and deliver Policy & Regulatory project portfolios and value propositions in response to policy/regulatory changes in North America.
Support proposal development and pursue client opportunities requiring premium advisory services.
Ensure a high-value client experience from initial bid through project closeout.
Support integration of Policy & Regulatory value propositions into other MTC pillars and vice versa.
Lead project work or act as subject matter expert in grid interconnection advisory services, including Large Generator and Load Interconnection Procedures across US utilities and Canadian interconnection procedures.
Support large load feasibility studies and grid integration advisory for clients.
Provide policy interpretation and regulatory support for program and framework development across utility, industrial, and water sector clients.
Advise on regulatory decisions, permissible technologies, market rules, and project development options for energy clients.
Conduct benchmarking and research using publicly available regulator databases.
Support planning and execution of the Policy & Regulatory expansion strategy within the MTC business.
Develop market research for energy, water, and industrial sectors to inform expansion strategies.
Assist Practice Leader with business development and external outreach to drive growth.
Monitor industry policy and regulatory developments to align service offerings with market needs.
Collaborate with Sector Leader to develop the Policy & Regulatory business strategy and growth KPIs.
Support pursuit of Policy & Regulatory business opportunities across new market segments, including utility interconnection project management and North American policy advising for energy, water, and industrial sectors.
Contribute to career development and mentorship within the Policy & Regulatory team.
Lead and contribute to project components, ensuring reporting and adherence to project delivery protocols.
Act as account manager or team member for key accounts, contributing to growth plans.
Collaborate with marketing to support campaigns for Policy & Regulatory and MTC lines.
Represent the group at industry conferences and events as an ambassador.
Your Capabilities & Credentials
Direct experience facilitating and driving utility interconnection projects from utility or interconnection customer perspective.
Proficient in policy and regulatory analysis affecting project development across energy and industrial sectors.
Understanding of electrical utility operations in energy-intensive industries (e.g., natural gas, heavy industry, water).
Experience producing regulatory-grade documents for executive, investor, and regulator scrutiny.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with a focus on trust and authenticity.
Collaborative, team-oriented, capable of building consensus in a global organization.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consultancy while maintaining value and quality.
Education And Experience
Minimum of 7 years of energy industry experience leading projects with utilities, regulatory agencies, and/or project developers.
Degree in Business, Economics, or Engineering.
Experience leading interconnection applications through utility and regulatory processes, including identification of schedules and cost risks and driving outcomes for utilities and developers.
Familiarity with LGIP (US) and Customer Interconnection Requirements across Canada is a strong asset.
Ability to translate technical considerations into regulatory-grade or business development documentation.
Advanced certifications in project management, policy development, or economics are assets.
Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, with high client satisfaction.
Travel may be required 10–15% of the time to support project execution or attend industry events.

Pay Transparency:
Pay ranges are provided where required. Final compensation depends on education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Some roles may be bonus eligible.
