Overview

The Amazon Web Services Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking a highly skilled Engagement Manager (EM) to lead the delivery of complex cloud solution projects. This role combines technical expertise with strong project leadership to drive successful AWS-based implementations, bridge business requirements with technical solutions, and ensure alignment with customer outcomes. You will apply AWS frameworks like Well-Architected and Cloud Adoption Framework, distill customer needs into clear technical requirements, decompose complex problems, and make informed trade-off decisions regarding performance, scalability, security, and business impact. As an experienced technology program/project manager, you will validate technical solutions against business goals, manage technical risks, and develop domain-specific expertise. You will communicate technical concepts to both technical and business audiences, lead increasingly complex projects, shape cross-organizational technical strategies, and establish best practices in your domain. You will apply management and leadership capabilities to execute project plans, proactively identify and manage risks, resolve issues, escalate when appropriate, and drive projects to successful completion while exceeding customer expectations. The AWS Professional Services organization is a global team that helps customers realize their desired business outcomes when using the AWS Cloud. We work with customer teams and the AWS Partner Network (APN) to execute enterprise cloud computing initiatives and deliver guidance across a range of solutions, technologies, and industries.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage complex cloud migration and implementation projects.

Leverage knowledge of AWS services, architectures, and best practices to guide technical decisions and strategic planning.

Bridge business requirements with technical solutions, facilitate engineering discussions, and ensure alignment with customer business outcomes.

Distill customer needs into clear technical requirements mapped to business outcomes.

Decompose complex technical problems into actionable, deliverable solutions.

Contribute to technical documentation and define documentation standards.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of cloud-based solution, system, network, and operating system experience (AWS or equivalent), or AWS Professional level certification.

Experience in technical program management.

Experience with software development lifecycle, or agile/scrum or related collaborative workflow.

Experience managing Agile projects.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or 5+ years of technical work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

1+ years of technical specialist, design and architecture experience, or AWS Associate level certification.

AWS Associate level certification, or 4+ years of technical specialist, design and architecture experience.

4+ years of technical specialist, design and architecture experience, or AWS Professional level certification.

Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS.

Experience leading large-scale, technical or engineering programs with a proven record of thought leadership, business case development, customer benefits realization, and successful program completion.

Experience in IT consulting/management with IT Transformation in a customer-facing role.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The Colorado base pay for this position ranges from $153,600/year up to $207,700/year. The National base pay ranges from $138,200/year to $238,900/year, depending on location and experience.
