Overview

Assistant Store Manager at Goodwill of Southern New England. Assists in overall store operations including donations processing, sales, financial performance, loss prevention, and personnel management under the supervision of the Store Manager. May supervise store associates and shift supervisors and oversee community service workers or supported employment work crews as assigned. Responsibilities

Oversee handling and processing of incoming and outgoing materials: on-site donations; merchandise from donation centers/stores; processed goods; salvage goods; and waste. Maximize used goods processing through sorting, preparing and pricing items for sale; meet or exceed production goals. Maximize sales through proper rotation, pricing, display, signage, promotions and inventory of processed merchandise; meet or exceed sales goals. Provide quality customer service to shoppers, donors and employees; be available for telephone customer relations activities. Manage and supervise mixed work crews and community service workers assigned to the store. Maintain store appearance and cleanliness, including sales floor, restrooms, lighting, displays, and odor-free environment. Ensure doors, cash registers and restrooms are in proper working order; maintain exterior appearance and parking lot upkeep. Maintain processing area appearance and ensure all equipment is in proper working order. Periodically inventory selected areas. Assist in managing store budget, payroll, processing goals, revenue generation and expense control; ensure proper cash management and reporting. Open/close store daily per schedule; operate security and safety systems; address cash handling policies and incident reporting; conduct safety drills and inspections. Supervise hiring, training and directing of store personnel; schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage; ensure adherence to policies and procedures; report infractions or unusual situations to the Store Manager. Other duties as required or directed. Qualifications

High school diploma or GED, plus a minimum of two years of related experience including supervisory experience; or combination of training/education with retail experience. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals; ability to write routine reports; ability to speak effectively before groups. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Sufficient knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles; basic Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook). High integrity and strong business ethics. Physical ability to perform duties including standing, walking, lifting up to 100 pounds, and handling heavy crates; ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Personal protective equipment as required; willingness to travel to designated bank locations for deposits. Benefits
