Overview
The Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions (Lewis College) at Georgia State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean for the School of Nursing (SON). The Associate Dean provides leadership for the SON and has administrative responsibility for all components of its academic portfolio, including associate, baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral nursing (DNP and PhD) programs delivered in various formats. The Associate Dean serves as the Chief Academic Officer and directs administrative functions of the school in collaboration with two Assistant Deans and five degree program directors. The SON has 53 full-time faculty members and a current student body of 947. This is a 12-month tenure-track/tenured faculty appointment. Responsibilities
Provide vision, leadership, and administration of all aspects of the SON academic portfolio, including program development and governance Oversee faculty and staff evaluation and development Lead fiscal planning and budgeting for the SON Lead strategic planning and goal setting aligned with college and university priorities Advance the school’s national and global stature in nursing Collaborate with the Dean, other Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, Department Chairs, and Program Directors to achieve the Lewis College’s strategic initiatives within a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment Engage in ongoing recruitment, retention, and mentorship efforts to support college and program excellence Qualifications
An earned doctoral research degree (e.g., PhD) in nursing or a related field Experience in academic administrative leadership Eligibility for rank of professor or advanced associate professor at the time of appointment Current nursing licensure and eligibility for licensure in Georgia Details
This position is located at Georgia State University, an urban-serving R1 institution with multiple campuses and a broad portfolio of health sciences programs. Atlanta provides an urban research and clinical setting with diverse healthcare and research partnerships. Candidates will be considered until an appointment is made.
