Job Summary

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine is offering an outstanding opportunity to join a well-established, supportive group of five board-certified/eligible colorectal surgeons. This is an academic position with our surgeons serving as the primary teaching faculty for the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. The clinical practice is through UK Healthcare, the Lexington VA Healthcare System, and the Markey Cancer Center – an NCI Comprehensive Cancer center. We are an NAPRC accredited program. We function as the tertiary referral center for eastern Kentucky – a region that experiences significant disparities in and barriers to care. Our robust practice treats a wide range of diseases colorectal disease including the complex, multidisciplinary care for colorectal cancer and IBD patients. Our division supports an ACGME-accredited colon and rectal surgery fellowship and the UK general surgery residency program. The new recruit will not only have the opportunity to join an extremely productive clinical practice but also a trajectory for academic growth through mentorship.

Responsibilities

Teaching learners at all levels in all areas of colorectal surgery Participation in multidisciplinary care and educational conferences Commitment to scholarly activity through mentorship learners in research and/or quality improvement projects Clinical care in various settings: inpatient, outpatient, acute, elective, etc. Shared call Serving in university and departmental committees as necessary Serving in extramural activities through regional and national societies i.e. moderator, reviewer, committee member, etc. Commitment to clinical excellence and surgical quality

Qualifications

Required Education The candidate must have successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship. Required Experience

Board Certification/Eligible in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery Motivation in the development of an academic career Commitment to core missions of the division: teaching, scholarly activity, mentorship, professional development, surgical quality, and clinical excellence Proficiency in both laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery Required License/Registration/Certification Active, unencumbered KY Medical License/Eligible for KY Medical License Active, unencumbered DEA/Eligible for DEA Board Certified/Eligible in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery Employment Details
