Teach: Reading in an SEI setting Creatively provide an interdisciplinary course of study that incorporates state curricular frameworks Align with skills and content in the school’s curriculum map Core Competencies
Accountability for Student Achievement Sets ambitious learning goals for all students, creates cognitively challenging tasks, and models the belief that all students can master challenging material through effective effort Assesses students’ understanding regularly with ambitious goals in mind and makes necessary instructional adjustments Communicating Content Knowledge Demonstrates mastery of and enthusiasm for the content area and related pedagogy Connects subject matter to real-world settings and standards Conveys content in creative and engaging ways aligned to standards Equitable & Effective Instruction Scaffolds and differentiates instruction for all students to engage in complex thinking Uses practices that challenge, motivate, and involve all students and promote equitable participation Builds a productive learning environment where every student participates Cultural Proficiency: Respects differences and maintains a respectful environment Parent/Family Engagement: Engages with families and builds collaborative relationships Professional Reflection & Collaboration: Reflects on practice, seeks feedback, and participates in collaborative professional learning Qualifications
Required Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Reading (All Levels) and either an SEI Endorsement OR ESL license at the appropriate grade level Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified Meet the Boston Public Schools Standards of Effective Teaching as outlined Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment Preferred Experience teaching in urban schools Degree in Education BPS values linguistic diversity; fluency in one of BPS’ official languages is valued Certification in core content area and one or both of: Moderate Disabilities, English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level) Terms
