Overview
Community Service Specialist — University Police, San Francisco State University Position type: Part-Time (0.5 FTE), 1-year probationary, Appointment Type. Work schedule to be arranged by supervisor. The anticipated hiring range is $2,249.00 per month ($26,988.00 annually). Reports to University Police. This position serves as a visible security presence on campus and in assigned buildings, performing security services, public safety support, and enforcement of campus rules and parking regulations. Position Summary
The Community Service Specialist provides security presence, patrols campus (foot, bike, or vehicle), enforces campus ordinances and parking regulations, assists UPD, and gives information about unusual occurrences and activities on and around campus. Position Information
Security Services:
Patrol campus to protect community and visitors; assist in enforcing campus rules; report hazards; check/open/secure facilities; coordinate and test campus alarm systems. Public Safety Support:
Back-up dispatch support; manage property and evidence; maintain records; provide crime prevention training; support prosecution programs; perform fingerprinting; participate in emergency response; take incident/accident reports as needed. Parking Support:
Enforce parking rules, issue permits and citations, patrol lots, appear in court for parking issues, direct traffic during peak times and emergencies. Campus Community Support:
Assist with campus events and emergencies; provide information and escorts as needed; offer general assistance to the public. Other duties:
As assigned. Minimum Qualifications
High school level reading and writing abilities; California Driver’s License. Ability to complete a background check; ability to attend POST programs related to public safety support and dispatch activities. Knowledge of applicable public safety equipment and systems; high school diploma or equivalent and 3–6 months related experience. Working knowledge of campus security procedures, alarm and radio systems; ability to detect and respond to hazardous or crime situations; ability to write clear incident reports; ability to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals. Preferred Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience as a security officer. Dependable, trustworthy, willing to respond to on-call duties. Uniform readiness: polished, clean, neat. Knowledge of campus operating and emergency procedures. Core Competencies

Work indoors and outdoors; may require evenings/weekends; ability to stand/walk for long periods, climb stairs, lift, open doors, and assist officers; able to react to emergencies and communicate effectively; interact with a culturally diverse population. Pre-Employment and Work Eligibility
