Overview
Consultant, Client Service, Investment Operations Outsourcing Position on the Investment Operations Outsourcing (IOO) Client Service team. The Consultant serves as the first point of contact for the client on day-to-day activities and is responsible for solving complex issues. The Consultant is also expected to participate in or lead projects that focus on improving overall service quality to the client. The Consultant should have broad, in-depth knowledge of the investment management industry, middle office operations, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and independently with internal and external stakeholders. IOO offers asset manager clients full middle-office and component solutions for a complex range of products, markets and asset types. We provide end-to-end solutions to service all post-trade needs. Our global, pass-the-book operating model ensures client portfolio information is transferred across regions, time zones, custodians and third parties. A single application for data aggregation, risk and performance analysis, asset valuation and reporting provides a consistent experience to balance risk, quality and cost for each client. Success depends on collaboration with multiple global support teams across Northern Trust (e.g., Reconciliations, Corporate Actions, Income, Performance, Derivatives Operations, Pricing)." Responsibilities (Primary daily responsibilities)
Operations Management Provide client service through oversight of daily functions and tasks, including cash processing, custodian reconciliations, front office reconciliations, client reporting, client fee billing, and general client inquiries regarding NT-provided data. Cross-train on oversight functions as assigned and back-up peers as necessary. Reinforce usage of NT, IOO or client best practices within IOO and its support teams. Manage multiple projects of varying complexities and identify opportunities for process or service quality improvement, acting as a liaison across the enterprise to drive execution. Understand and enhance procedures and controls to mitigate operational, financial or reputational risk to the client and NT. Client Service Management Understand client business and deliverables; provide timely responses to client and internal stakeholder inquiries with limited manager input. Drive engagement of other partners as appropriate to promptly resolve client inquiries/issues. Develop expertise on the IOO operating model and the end-client’s business; assist in process changes to align with client support needs and best practices. Understand current SLAs outlining roles and responsibilities between NT and the client related to the job function. Relationship Management Act as a main point of contact and be accessible to internal partners and teams supporting the client relationship. Build relationships with internal partners to solve client issues or improve service; mentor junior staff as needed. The Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of relevant work experience supporting Financial Industry Operations, Asset Management and/or Investment Operations clients. Knowledge of trade lifecycle and counterparties within the operating model. Examples of process efficiencies implemented in prior roles. Proven, excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task with urgency appropriate to client issues. Strong analytical, attention-to-detail and problem-solving skills. Moderate Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot, etc.) and other MS Office skills. The Ideal Qualifications
A college or university degree. Direct investment management operations experience. Experience with business process and/or technology enhancement initiatives. Experience with PowerBI or other data visualization applications. Salary Range
$66,700 - 113,300 USD Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay.
