Overview
There is an opening at the State Attorney’s Office for an attorney with at least three years’ experience to work as an Assistant State Attorney in the capacity of the Civil Litigator for the South Florida Financial Crimes Strike Force (Strike Force). The Strike Force is a multi-agency unit tasked primarily with investigating money launderers, fraudsters, smugglers, narcotics traffickers, and terrorist financiers. Among the tools the Strike Force utilizes to combat these organized criminals is asset forfeiture pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act (FCFA). Responsibilities
Litigate in the Civil Division of the Circuit Court on all forfeiture actions arising from Strike Force investigations, on behalf of the South Florida Financial Crimes Strike Force. Provide legal advice and guidance to Strike Force detectives in proactive money laundering and other financial crime investigations. Review and approve warrants to further ongoing investigations. Demonstrate aptitude for Fourth and Fifth Amendment analyses. Qualifications
At least three years’ experience as an attorney. Preference for superior writing and organizational skills, significant litigation experience, and interest in criminal and civil investigations. Ability to conduct Fourth and Fifth Amendment analyses. Salary and Application
Salary range: $78,000 to $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience, with full state benefits and a $5,000 cost area differential.
