Head of Construction Property role at AXA XL. The Head of Construction Underwriting manages a team of technical UW professionals supporting the development and execution of product line initiatives; Americas market strategy in line with the global product strategy. Key interactions include the Americas Construction leadership team and our Global Chief Underwriting Office. What you’ll do

Direct underwriting activities for a specific line of business. Coordinate/facilitate/lead new business, renewals, re-pricings, restrictions, special acceptances, commutations and cancellations in determining risk acceptability and coverage, in accordance with the underwriting guidelines and authorities as established. Be responsible for the construction of an efficient portfolio and the use of and development of metrics that will enable underwriters to make better decisions regarding deployment of the capital of the firm. Ensure adherence to the underwriting authorities and guidelines as approved; cascade/rescind Underwriting authority as needed throughout the product line. Drive growth by identifying new markets (e.g., new channels, new products) and by further developing existing markets (e.g., deeper relationships with existing brokers and clients) as measured by new premium and market share growth or profitable GWP growth in new books of business. Develop and update Plan based on actual results. Manage an underwriting team to ensure operational efficiency around production and hit ratio reporting, retention ratios, production planning and tactical actions expected related to the established plans. Proven knowledge of the Construction insurance industry, combined with in-depth technical knowledge of P&C product offerings. Effective broker relationships. Ability to lead a team that will deliver the most efficient and best possible customer experience. Proven business acumen to engage colleagues in how the needs of our customers are met through our vision, strategy, and operational plans. Ability to build and drive positive, helpful, and seamless end-to-end customer, broker and/or partner experiences in the spirit of our purpose.
