This engineering position, in the Systems & Test Engineering group, will support all cell-related aspects of our battery management system (BMS) software. The primary objective is to develop software that ensures our products function safely and with world-class performance. Responsibilities
Create and maintain performance and lifetime models of lithium-ion cell behavior. Define technical roadmaps for battery algorithm development aligned with product requirements. Develop on-board real-time algorithms related to cell behavior: state-of-charge, state-of-health, power limits, temperature estimation, etc. Collaborate closely with BMS engineers to implement algorithms. Devise cell-level and pack-level experiments to parameterize and validate algorithm performance. Develop battery pack simulation model using Simulink to facilitate powertrain integration and evaluate pack performance. Use the model to investigate faults in the field and lab. Lead cross-functional project teams involving hardware, software, and systems engineers. Analyze algorithm performance from real-world vehicle data and use learnings to propose improvements. Investigate the use of physics-based models and machine learning to build better algorithms and models. Provide technical guidance and code reviews for algorithm development across the team. You will report to the Cell Engineering Manager and collaborate with other Engineering team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and manufacturing facilities in Greer, SC. About You

Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize. Works with moderate instructions on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments. Sound judgment and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Your Experience Includes
5+ years of work experience in at least one of the following: controls engineering, state estimation, battery modeling, or battery algorithms. BS/MS/PhD in a related field. Familiarity with basic electrochemistry and lithium-ion cell behavior. Proficient with MATLAB/Simulink. Proficient with dynamic modeling, Kalman filtering, and state estimator design. Experience in writing code to analyze large data sets. Experience with requirement management (JAMA, Doors, etc). Experience with cell modeling (equivalent circuit and/or electrochemical). Location
