Senior Solutions Engineer, Okta (Federal)
Okta for Developers is hiring a Senior Solutions Engineer for the Federal sector. This role focuses on advising and demonstrating Okta Identity Platform solutions to federal customers, with emphasis on pre-sales engineering, solution demonstrations, and customer engagements. What You’ll Do
Serve as a technical advisor: Partner with the sales team to educate federal customers on Okta’s identity solutions and demonstrate their value. Solve customer challenges: Understand customer needs and provide tailored product demonstrations to show how Okta solutions meet their business requirements. Lead technical engagements: Respond to product and technical questions, and plan and deliver complex Proofs of Concept (POCs) in collaboration with Okta engineering teams. Drive product and knowledge growth: Share customer feedback with product teams to influence future enhancements and contribute to team knowledge via best practices and reusable assets. Stay ahead of the curve: Perform competitive analysis and market differentiation to better position Okta. Support company events: Represent Okta at marketing events, including conferences, user groups, and trade shows. What You’ll Bring
Experience: 8+ years in pre-sales engineering and solution selling, with a strong background in US Federal (DOD, Intelligence, Federal System Integrators). Technical Acumen:
Identity protocols (SAML, OIDC, OAuth, FIDO, Passkeys, SCIM, LDAP). Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure/Entra, GCP). REST APIs and SDKs. Hands-on experience in front-end/back-end development, scripting (Bash, PowerShell), or DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes). Understanding of identity-related cybersecurity topics (phishing, MFA bypass, privilege escalation).
Communication & Presentation Skills: Ability to simplify complex concepts and present to diverse audiences; skilled at diagramming user journeys and architecture. Strategic Mindset: Experience in territory management, pipeline building, and collaborating with sales. Travel: Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. Bonus Skills (Ideally)
Experience with Identity Governance (IGA) or Privileged Access Management (PAM). Understanding of securing privileged accounts (Just-in-Time access, session recording, secrets management). Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, LDAP, and Federation services. Knowledge of CNAPP/CSPM, UNIX/Linux, database/network security, or DevOps practices. TS Clearance Additional Requirements
Ability to access federal environments or protected federal data. Must be able to submit documentation establishing U.S. Person status (e.g., U.S. Citizen, National, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee) upon hire per 22 CFR 120.15. The following compensation information is provided for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington. Actual OTE depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Okta offers equity (where applicable) and benefits in accordance with company policies. OTE range: 192,000–288,000 USD for eligible locations.
