Role summary and location information. Overview
Telecoms Engineer role based in Houston, TX with onsite requirement. Responsible for engineering delivery across telecommunication systems in Oil & Gas projects, ensuring design quality, safety, and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities
Preparation / review of Telecommunication Engineering deliverables including Design Basis, Specifications for various Telecommunication Systems, System Block Diagrams, Datasheets. Preparation / Review Network and Hosting Architecture designs in concert with Internal Discipline Engineers (network and Hosting). Cyber security awareness and stewardship through internal cyber security review / approval process of all designs. Producing Radio Coverage Calculations, Fresnel Zone Calculations, estimating antenna height, etc. Perform Fiber Optic Link Budget Calculations, Data and Telephony Traffic Analysis, Capacity / Bandwidth Calculations, Public Address Sound Pressure Level Calculations. Telecom Equipment Power Consumption and Heat Load Calculations. Provide engineering input to engineering drawings including Device Location Plans, Cable Routing Layouts, Instrument/Device Installation Details, Interconnection Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Circuit & Connection Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams and MDF / IDF Schematics, FO Allocation Diagrams, Device and Equipment Schedules, etc. Review / Comment on Schedule/Diagrams, etc. prepared by designers. Coordinate with other disciplines and review of other discipline deliverables. Carry out onshore and offshore site surveys as required. Attend interface meetings with Clients and Vendors to progress design scopes. Review Telecommunication System Vendors offers, prepare Vendor technical clarifications and produce Technical Bid Evaluation reports. Provide technical expertise to other Technology teams including developing and managing Technology projects. Develops/maintains technology standards and processes for Telecommunication Systems; Tagging conventions, programming simulation and testing. Producing / Planning preventive and corrective maintenance plans in Oil & Gas industry. Manages ongoing technology delivery to service level agreements from projects to application and asset owners. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in Telecommunication or Electrical Engineering or a related degree with at least 5-10 years’ experience in detailed engineering and design of Telecommunications works for Oil & Gas projects in similar position. Skills
Knowledge of oil and gas production processes. Fully familiar with relevant international codes, standards and recommended practices. Strong knowledge of telecommunication and electrical design principles and industry standards. Understanding of Pre-Start Safety Review process (PSSR)s and Management of Change (MOCs). Understanding of Hazardous Area codes & regulations as applied to Petroleum Operational environment; (preferably with hazardous area qualifications). Competent to carry out the Design activity in the Design-Check-Approve-Authorize cycle, and to Check the technical deliverables of designers. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks. Self-motivated, results oriented, and able to work under tight schedules in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team environment. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Excellent problem solving, initiative and analytical skills. Good oral and written English skills able to produce fluent Documents, Reports, and Technical Notes. Experience
Management of Engineering design principles and delivery / management of minor project implementations. Review and Approval of requirements, design documentation, and leadership with stakeholders. Proven ability to analyze, design, implement and optimize Telecommunications Systems. At least 5-10 years’ experience in some or all of the following telecommunication systems / disciplines: Analog / Digital Microwave Systems Radio communication standards, and systems PAGA Systems VHF / UHF licensed / unlicensed SCADA Systems VSAT Systems Aviation and Marine Radio Systems DC Solar Power Systems / Electrical Design Weather / Helideck Monitoring Systems Navigations Aids, Radar, AIS, RACON Hosting and Network Systems Structured Cabling systems Seniority
