Overview
The Primary Care provider will provide primary care services in the outpatient setting at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. This role includes working with students and residents to model excellence in patient care and contributing to the education program of our students and residents. Participation in clinical research at the VA Hospital and Wayne State University General Medicine Division will be encouraged. The provider will manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in the outpatient clinic setting. Duties
Work closely and coordinate patient care with other PACT teamlet members including nursing, clerical, pharmacy, social work, dietitian, etc. Participate in daily huddles with other teamlet staff and participate in primary care systems redesign projects. Provide clinical oversight and participate in peer review of other Primary Care Providers through periodic chart reviews as mandated by the Bylaws of the Medical Staff. Act as surrogates for absent Primary Care Providers when needed, including review of CPRS view alerts. Regularly attend primary care staff meetings, departmental meetings, and medical staff meetings. Work Schedule
Monday-Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm for four days a week; 9:30am to 6:00pm one day a week; one Saturday a month from 7:30am to 4:00pm with a given off day for the week the Provider works on Saturday. Compensation & Benefits
VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) may apply (eligibility, award amount up to $200,000, and eligibility period from one to five years determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application). Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and up to 5 days CME leave). Retirement: Traditional federal pension with 5 years vesting and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contribution. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care. CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage. For non-US residencies with five years of verified practice in the U.S., local medical staff may deem it acceptable. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
