The General Manager is responsible for the financial and operating performance of both the East Texas A&M Agricultural Center and the East Texas A&M Arena. Objectives include: optimizing profitability, building positive client and stakeholder relationships, fostering accountability, meeting/exceeding annual growth objectives, facilitating interdepartmental collaboration, staff development, policy development, implementing major business initiatives, and supporting systems that enable these areas. The role also oversees Food & Beverage operations and overall event operations. Primary Responsibilities
Analyze operations to evaluate performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend policy changes Appoint department heads or managers and delegate responsibilities Collaborate with ownership, advisors, support teams, and staff to discuss issues and coordinate activities Develop and implement budgetary control and recordkeeping systems Direct and coordinate financial and budget activities to fund operations and increase efficiency Oversee human resources activities, including planning, staffing, and organization of major departments Direct, plan, and implement organizational policies and objectives Implement corrective action plans for problems Prepare and present reports on activities, expenses, budgets, and related items Represent the organization at official functions or delegate as needed Serve as liaison between organizations, shareholders, and outside entities Administer programs for site selection, construction needs, and equipment and supplies Direct activities related to production, pricing, sales, and distribution Negotiate or approve contracts with suppliers, distributors, and agencies Prepare budgets for approval and program funding Review staff reports to recommend approvals or changes Schedule and monitor staff training on operations, safety, and legal responsibilities Perform additional duties assigned by the VP of Venue Management Livestock Operations Oversight
Ensure department-level management oversees day-to-day care and handling of livestock in alignment with safety and welfare standards Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and biosecurity protocols Provide leadership and training for animal care staff Monitor and manage budgets related to livestock operations Coordinate with veterinarians for routine care and medical emergencies Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of management experience Bachelor’s degree in business management, sports management, marketing, hospitality, food and beverage, or related field, or equivalent experience Sports programming and sports event operations expertise required Experience managing daily P&L with $1M+ annual budgets Proven experience organizing, booking, and operating sports tournaments and events Operational knowledge of F&B, entertainment, and sports clubs; experience with parties, corporate events, and team building preferred Experience working with convention & visitor bureaus, regional sports commissions, and/or regional event management booking Operational knowledge of risk management, kitchen, entertainment, sports clubs, and leadership development Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire Travel Requirements
Some travel Working Conditions And Physical Demands
