Overview
JAMHI Health & Wellness is seeking an enthusiastic Human Resources Generalist who is comfortable with benefits management and process improvement. The Human Resources Generalist will help craft and perfect a smooth onboarding process for all new hires and manage day-to-day HR operations. We are looking for someone who has a passion for employee benefits and a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will be able to think out of the box while fostering great working relationships with employees. The role is a team-based position that proactively seeks to improve processes and workflows and mediates employee relations while providing mentorship to managers.
Responsibilities
Support benefits management, onboarding, and day-to-day HR operations. Improve processes and workflows. Mediate employee relations and provide mentorship and guidance to managers. Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Maintain accurate employee records and data management for reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (relevant work experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis).
- Two years of professional-level experience on a human resources team directly involved in onboarding and employee relations.
- An accredited HR certification such as SHRM-CP is preferred.
Knowledge
- Federal, state, and local employment laws, including labor standards, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour laws, and employee rights (e.g., FMLA, ADA, OSHA).
- Best practices in onboarding, performance management, employee relations, safety, and compliance.
- Common employee benefits programs and how they are administered.
- HRIS and data management for compliance and reporting.
- Conflict resolution and mediation with fairness and legal compliance.
- Ethics and confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
- Union agreements, labor laws, and collective bargaining practices in unionized workplaces.
- Understanding of company policies, culture, and internal procedures to ensure consistency and fairness.
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication for policies, employee concerns, interviews, and guidance to employees and management.
- Mediating and resolving disputes while ensuring fair treatment and a positive work environment.
- Decision-making based on policies, legal requirements, and organizational interests.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities in high-volume environments.
- Attention to detail in managing employee records and ensuring compliance.
- Adaptability to changing laws, regulations, and HR trends and technologies.
- Ability to build relationships with employees at all levels and act as a trusted advisor to staff and leadership.
- Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Familiarity with HR technologies (HRIS, ATS, payroll and benefits software).

Other requirements: All JAMHI positions require the ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with current state regulations, and a valid Alaska driver’s license. Must be able to clear the JAMHI auto insurance screening through the independent carrier if driving.
