Radiologic Technologist 1/Medical Assistant - Danbury/Westport - Full Time

Join Connecticut Children's as a Radiologic Technologist 1/Medical Assistant. This dual role requires flexibility and knowledge of both Radiology and Medical Assisting. The successful candidate will operate general, fluoroscopic, and portable radiographic equipment to perform various radiology examinations/procedures on pediatric inpatients/outpatients. Additionally, they will perform Medical Assistant responsibilities, including administrative, clinical, departmental support, and documentation duties. Responsibilities: RADIOLOGY TECHNICIAN: Assess imaging orders for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness. Demonstrate age-related competency and cultural sensitivity. Perform radiologic exams/procedures. Provide support and effective communication to other members of the department and healthcare team. Adhere to a culture of safety and assure timeliness and accuracy when performing requested exams. Educate and mentor radiologic skills of new technologists and students. Utilize information technology systems associated with the role. Coordinate equipment service as required. May be called upon to cover nights, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Demonstrate support for the mission, values, and goals of the organization. Practices within the scope of the state of CT Radiologic license and ARRT (R) certification. MEDICAL ASSISTANT: A Medical Assistant may be required to perform any or all of the following fundamental functions: ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: Support patient check-in and check-out processes. Schedule and coordinate patient appointments. Answer and direct calls. Process pre-authorizations and pre-certifications. Prepare and file medical records. Provide cross-coverage for other administrative roles. Maintain clinical files according to organization/department protocol. Process patient-related correspondence. Maintain confidentiality of patient information. CLINICAL SUPPORT: Ensure efficient patient flow. Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient examinations. Provide appropriate procedural support following department-specific guidelines. Perform initial intake of patient, up to and including interviews, vital signs, and allergy information. Perform daily Quality Controls (QC) for all Point of Care (POC) testing. Obtain specimens and accurately perform and record patient POC testing per policy. Provide cross-coverage for other appropriate clinical roles. DEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT: Provide support as needed for departmental medical record audits. Clean and stock patient care rooms between patients. Maintain appropriate inventories of all medical supplies. Stock and maintain all patient-related forms and educational materials. Utilize equipment appropriately and notify the Practice Manager in a timely fashion of equipment/facility break-down or damage. DOCUMENTATION: Documentation is legible and falls within the appropriate MA scope/Organizational documentation guidelines. Accurately document patient information on appropriate forms. Qualifications: Education Required: Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. License and/or Certification Required: Registered as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology; ARRT (R) in good standing. Current State of Connecticut Radiographer License. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and maintained thereafter. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Positive attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology and basic math and measurements. Exemplary customer service skills. Basic literacy and proficiency in computers, Microsoft Office applications, Practice Management System(s), and Electronic Health Record Systems (E.H.R.).
