Overview

The Farber Lab in the Department of Biology is looking for a

Laboratory Technician

who will be performing routine laboratory processes and following routine protocols under close supervision. Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Operate standard equipment. Use standard procedures for specific laboratory tests and preparation techniques. Assist with laboratory maintenance, prepare solutions, and order supplies. Identify and report problems in the completion of routine lab processes. Other duties as assigned. Provide fish room backup coverage. Assist in maintaining all Farber common fish stocks. Assist Lab Coordinator as needed. Design and perform experiments under the mentorship of senior lab staff/personnel. Keep detailed records of all experiments. Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or graduation equivalent. Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications

Some science coursework and/or a training certificate from a technical institute. Technical Skills & Expected Level of Proficiency

Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will depend on factors including location, skills, experience, education/trainings, and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow the JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience, with additional related experience possibly substituting for required education. Up to two years of non-related college coursework may be applied toward the total minimum education/experience required.
