Job Description Airbus Commercial is looking for a Senior Director of HR to join our team in Kinston, NC. The Senior Director of HR & Workplace, Kinston, establishes, directs, and leads the Human Resource function at an operational facility with 900+ shop floor and office-based employees. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Site Management Team, guiding, supporting and coaching leaders at all levels of the organization.

This position is responsible for the successful alignment of HR & Workplace deliverables at the site, ensuring site, region, and enterprise objectives are met. This role requires coordination with Site, Program & Functional leadership interfaces within the U.S. and with Airbus Founding Countries. This role is contingent upon obtaining regulatory approvals and the successful closing of a transaction establishing a new Airbus Affiliate in Kinston, NC (the "Kinston Affiliate"). The Sr. Director of HR would be an employee of the Kinston Affiliate.

Your Challenges

Site and Regional Leadership Responsibilities: 50%

Accountable for the site-level HR & Workplace function and its delivery toward site objectives, including HR Strategy, Employee Relations, Health and Safety, Training & Organizational Development, and other HR & WP initiatives in partnership with COEs and Employee Services teams.

Develop and deploy a cultural improvement program to enhance the employee experience at the site.

Act as a senior member of the U.S Commercial HR Leadership Team, aligning site requirements with regional and enterprise HR & WP strategies.

Advise/support site-level top management on people and workplace matters as a member of the site senior leadership team.

Champion a health and safety-first culture within the team and site.

Lead site ramp-up staffing, onboarding and training initiatives, delivering on time and within budget.

Coordinate with finance, program, and site leadership to define and deliver budgets and headcount models.

Report KPI status of defined initiatives to site, Program regional, and EU-level leadership.

Management of Site HR & WP Organization: 35%

Lead a team of 4 direct reports and their teams to deliver defined objectives.

Foster a collaborative, open, performance-driven culture within the HR & WP organization.

Mentor and support reporting managers in delivering their team’s objectives and goals.

Encourage change leadership and act as Brand Ambassadors for HR & WP across the site.

Maintain positive employee relations and facilitate investigations as needed.

Provide guidance to HR & WP staff on consistent, accurate HR consulting practices at the site.

Ensure HR & WP teams are properly resourced and remove blockers to achieve objectives.

Project Accountability: 10%

Responsible for ramp-up related HR & WP deliverables.

Review and deliver on site-level HR & WP and Culture projects to support site objectives.

Mentor direct reports in delivering regional and enterprise-level projects as defined.

Other duties as assigned: 5%

Stay informed through conferences, educational opportunities, publications, and professional networks.

Mentor others in the Airbus leadership approach.

Support other initiatives as assigned.

Your Boarding Pass Education

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience

Advanced degree (MS, MBA, or JD) preferred

Experience

15+ years of operational HR experience.

Experience leading teams and complex strategic initiatives at a site or regional level.

Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience in a complex, international organization preferred.

Preferred Licensure/Certifications

SHRM-SCP/ CP or SPHR/ PHR Certification

Additional Employee Relations, Change Management, or other certifications

Required Technical Systems Proficiency

Google Workspace and MS Office

HRIS experience; Workday and Dayforce preferred

Level of Decision Making

Final decision point for site-level HR escalations with potential legal implications under U.S. law

Site-level staffing plan directly impacts ability to deliver aircraft parts to internal customers

Compliance-related decisions with exposure to fines and sanctions (EASA, FAA, OSHA, DOL, NLRA)

Requires coordination with regional and enterprise stakeholders; strong negotiation skills needed

Job Dimensions

Physical Requirements

Onsite 60%, Remote 40%

Vision, Hearing, Speaking, and ability to operate office equipment and some production tools

Ability to carry up to 30 lbs/14 kg; sit/stand; walk on uneven surfaces

Frequent travel; protective equipment may be required on shop floor
