The Monitor is an entry-level position that provides security for program premises and safety for clients, visitors and employees. Driving ability is preferred. Duties and Responsibilities
Shelter Security Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of participants, employees, partners, vendors, visitors and guests to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Screen participants’ person and belongings; treat every participant with equal dignity and professionalism. Patrol premises to prevent intrusions and ensure security of doors, windows and gates; report as needed. Shelter Safety Observe operations, report and correct spills, unsafe conditions or defective equipment; know fire exit locations and assist participants in emergencies. Monitor clients, conduct room checks, maintain records of client compliance, and report to clinical/case management staff; assist as required. Contact police or fire departments in emergencies. Asset Protection Protect shelter assets; report suspicious events; complete written reports and incident logs of daily activities and irregularities. Client/Participant Support Answer phones, monitor doors, greet visitors; maintain cleanliness of common areas and restrooms. Assist staff during service provision (e.g., meal prep/serving, medication self-administration records, setup for classes/events). Driving Tasks
(for licensed Monitors) Transport participants to locations; assist with securing wheelchairs and mobility devices; ensure safety while driving; maintain trip logs and vehicle condition; perform routine vehicle maintenance as needed. Drive duties may include other related tasks as required. Act as a role model for participants at all times; prioritize clients’ needs. Essential Duties

Requirements
Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check with criminal history, references, employment and education verifications Education
Within 30 days of hire, complete VOALA safety training Preferred Qualifications
