The Senior BI Developer designs, develops and implements analytics tools and data solutions. This individual comprehensively understands business data needs, gathers requirements, analyzes data and develops robust analytics solutions for advanced projects, self-service analytics and business user consumption. The Senior BI Developer interfaces with clinical, financial and operational business leaders, subject matter experts as well as Information Services applications teams to design reports, dashboards and analytics that accurately reflect business workflows and drive action. The Senior BI Developer plans, designs, architects, develops, tests and implements new BI solutions as well as troubleshoots, monitors and maintains existing BI solutions. Expertise writing relational and multidimensional database queries that meet performance objectives and business use cases. Expertise with data warehousing design and development methodologies. Strong experience with leading healthcare technology systems such as EMR (Epic), Claims processing (Epic), ERP (Workday), CRM, cloud based data platforms (Azure, Snowflake) etc. Will be seen as a leader and mentor less experienced BI Developers. This person is a key contributor on complex projects and may act as an informal project manager as needed. The individual identifies process improvement opportunities and writes recommendations, process documentation and best practices in a clear, concise manner. Responsibilities
Design, develop and implement BI solutions that support business data needs. Collaborate with clinical, financial and operational leaders and subject matter experts to design reports, dashboards and analytics. Plan, design, architect, develop, test and implement BI solutions; troubleshoot, monitor and maintain existing BI solutions. Write relational and multidimensional database queries; develop database objects and optimize performance. Apply data warehousing design and development methodologies. Lead and mentor junior BI developers; contribute as a senior project team member and potentially act as an informal project manager. Identify process improvement opportunities and document best practices. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, Business or related field AND minimum of 4 years of BI-related experience OR minimum of 6 years of BI-related experience. Expertise with BI tools: Microsoft BI stack, SAP BO, TIBCO Spotfire, Tableau, Crystal Reports, etc. Expertise programming in SQL, Python, R, SAS or equivalent. Strong experience in data warehousing design and methodologies. Experience with BI development lifecycle, requirements gathering, analysis and verification. Experience planning, designing, architecting, developing and supporting BI solutions; debugging and monitoring. Experience creating dashboards and reports for business use; leadership and mentoring experience. Ability to exercise independent judgment; strong analytical and communication skills. Willingness to be available for support by pager or telephone 24/7. Preferred
Minimum of 2 years in a healthcare/provider/insurance environment. Minimum of 4 years in information technology. Epic certifications: Epic Cogito, Caboodle Data Model, Clarity Data Model, and one of Clinical/Patient Access/Revenue Cycle Data Model. Experience with Epic Cogito tools (Radar Dashboards, Reporting Workbench, Radar SQL Metrics, Crystal Reports, SlicerDicer, Analytics Catalog, registries, etc.). Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
Epic certification may be required based on area focus. Employee must hold or obtain Epic certification within six months of employment (including one allowed test retake). Required Epic certifications for BI Developers supporting Epic include: Epic Cogito, Caboodle Data Model, Clarity Data Model, and one of Clinical/Patient Access/Revenue Cycle Data Model. Preferred: additional Cogito certifications or proficiencies such as Cogito Data Models, SlicerDicer, Radar, Caboodle-Clarity development, Cogito tools administration; Microsoft SQL, Python and/or BI tool certifications are a plus.
