Senior Systems Engineer

willing to tackle complex technical issues in a collaborative environment. The role supports the organization to accomplish mission requirements and future-proofing components, software, and policies. The candidate will design, integrate, optimize, and maintain a unique infrastructure across multiple data centers, frequently collaborating with section engineers to build and configure customer environments across data centers. A strong technical acumen with professional understanding of Virtual Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware ESX, Microsoft SQL Server, and related technologies is required. Responsibilities

Install, configure, administer, and manage Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and Microsoft SQL Reporting Services 2019 for a SolarWinds SQL platform.

Facilitate, implement, monitor, and test database backups and recovery methodologies and processes.

Monitor and optimize the performance of production SQL server databases.

Ensure database security, integrity, reliability, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.

Identify and troubleshoot database issues; analyze, design, build, test, and implement solutions.

Implement and troubleshoot triggers, views, stored procedures, and data integrity constraints.

Monitor file system space and database allocation; optimize space, prevent out-of-space conditions, and plan for capacity and scalability.

Identify and implement improvements, automation, monitoring, and alerting.

Deploy, support, and maintain Dev/Test/Production infrastructure and services in virtual and physical environments.

Monitor the health and performance of all infrastructure and resolve issues with strong troubleshooting skills.

Support a small data center and a physical machine test lab; troubleshoot issues and configure hardware, servers, laptops, and desktops (Windows and Linux).

Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues on Windows and Linux systems for services such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy Management, and MDT.

Ensure High Availability, Fault Tolerance, Backup, and Disaster Recovery for all critical infrastructure.

Install, configure, and manage VMware virtualization environments (vSphere, SRM).

Install, configure, and manage Cisco UCS environments (Central, UCS Manager, Fabric Interconnects, B and C-Series servers).

Database management including schema design, data modeling, and data integrity.

Qualifications

10 - 15 years of relevant experience.

Minimum of 10 years of experience with architecting and implementing storage, virtualization, hyper-converged systems, data protection and recovery strategies.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in an enterprise environment involving VMware maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.

Expert knowledge on data resiliency, redundancy factors, and high availability.

Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere Networking, VLANs, Port Groups, Virtual Switches and related properties.

Experience with data center management, orchestration, and enterprise application environments.

Ability to monitor and suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, scalability, and security.

Professional services project experience with migration, upgrades, implementation, and patch management in the relevant technologies.

Understanding of migration strategies for transferring workloads between data centers.

Experience with PowerShell scripting.

Experience creating design documents and diagrams to support system design; documentation of build and configuration procedures.

Ability to run security, compliance, and vulnerability scans and mitigate findings.

Strong work ethic, ability to meet deadlines, and capacity to work independently and in a team.

Experience with SQL Server replication topologies.

Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment requiring cross-team collaboration.

Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and collaboration.

Desire to expand knowledge and experience; detail-oriented and able to prioritize and complete tasks on time.

Problem solving and decision-making capabilities for troubleshooting and process improvement.

Experience with Cisco virtual and physical network concepts and practices.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Security and Education

Personnel Clearance Level: Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance; a clearance will be sponsored for the right candidate.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited institution.

Mandatory Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire; VMware VCP or VCAP certification in the Data Center Virtualization track is desired.
