The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at LIU Brooklyn is seeking an Adjunct Professor to teach a graduate-level course in Dysphagia during the Fall 2025 semester, which begins September 3, 2025. The course will be held in person on Wednesdays, 6:00 PM– 8:50 PM. This position is ideal for an experienced speech-language pathologist with advanced knowledge in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of swallowing disorders across the lifespan. The course should integrate evidence-based practice consideration of social determinants of health in clinical care.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and teach a graduate-level Dysphagia course for speech-language pathology students, ensuring alignment with current ASHA practice guidelines and CAA accreditation standards.

Incorporate case-based and problem-solving approaches that address pediatric and adult swallowing disorders.

Highlight culturally and linguistically responsive practices in dysphagia management.

Collaborate with the Program Director to provide updates or materials that support accreditation reporting and curricular alignment.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required; PhD or PhD candidacy in Communication Sciences and Disorders preferred.

Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCCSLP) from ASHA.

Demonstrated expertise in the assessment and treatment of swallowing disorders in pediatric and/or adult populations.

A record of effective teaching at the graduate level in speech-language pathology or related fields.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging educational environment.

Salary Range: $1,000–$1,350 per credit
