The University of Georgia is seeking an Associate Research Scientist for the Center for Applied Isotope Studies (CAIS) Plasma Chemistry Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily management of the laboratory, collaborating with researchers to develop methods for major and trace metals analysis applications in forensic science, archaeology, biotechnology, and earth sciences.
The position requires operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, including inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers (ICP-MS), optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), direct mercury analyzers (DMA), and a laser-ablation-ICP-MS. The candidate will also supervise one staff member (Research Professional).
The minimum qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry and two years of experience in analytical chemistry applications in forensics, anthropology/archaeology, biotechnology, and/or earth sciences, as well as experience with inductively coupled plasma (ICP) technologies and laser ablation (LA) methods.
