Overview

Senior Talent Solutions Specialist at Ivory Systems Scientist IV - 100% onsite, Ridgefield, CT - 12 month contract with potential for extension Solid State NMR Spectroscopist – Material and Analytical Sciences Our client is currently seeking a talented structural chemist skilled in Solid State NMR spectroscopy to work in our Material and Analytical Sciences (MAS) department located at their Ridgefield, CT facility. As a temporary contract employee, you will expand your scientific skills, gain experience using state of the art equipment and gain insight on the drug development process. The individual in this position will actively contribute to the discovery, development and delivery of our products to our patients and customers. BI's global presence provides an opportunity to collaborate internationally, offering visibility and opportunity to directly contribute to the companies' success. We foster a healthy working environment, meaningful work, diversity and inclusion, mobility, networking and work-life balance.

Responsibilities

Apply skill in solid-state NMR (ssNMR) spectroscopy to acquire and interpret (1D and 2D 1H, 19F, 13C, 15N, etc.) data for molecular structure elucidation.

Apply ssNMR to characterize pharmaceutical materials such as particles, powders, and suspensions and to guide robust drug substance and drug product development.

Use NMR expertise to evaluate and characterize a broad range of materials, including crystalline and non-crystalline small molecule APIs, biologics, excipients, drug product intermediates, and drug products.

Apply quantitative ssNMR methods to measure components of APIs and drug products.

Use molecular modeling and predictive tools with technologies such as solution/solid state NMR and X-ray crystallography to enable 3D structural evaluation at the atomic and molecular level.

Ensure back-up and retrieval of all ssNMR data.

Plan and perform experiments with minimal supervision to provide investigative support of structural predictions.

Remain current with relevant scientific literature and apply knowledge to the design, modification and implementation of new experiments.

Write protocols, methods and technical reports; provide scientific interpretation of results with minimal guidance.

Present at internal scientific meetings.

Skills: Requirements

Background in use of solution NMR for structure elucidation is highly desired.

Experience with solid-state NMR sample preparation, data acquisition and interpretation of multinuclear NMR data is required.

Experience with implementing and trouble-shooting ssNMR experiments.

Experience changing Bruker ssNMR probes is required.

Basic understanding of molecular structure, inter-atomic distances, hydrogen bonding, torsion angle strain, hydrophobic and hydrophilic interactions.

Experience in the application and interpretation of ssNMR to study biological systems is a plus.

Understands the conceptual basis behind modern computational methods such as qm-DFT, Monte Carlo methods, etc.

Knowledgeable in the routine use of molecular modeling software (example: Gaussian, Schrodinger, Materials Studio suite, CCDC software)

Familiar with use of HPC clusters, Linux environment and associated job submission programs.

Experience collaborating with diverse teams and demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Experience with preparing and analyzing membrane protein samples is a plus.

Excellent laboratory practices to ensure safety and sample integrity.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, highly organized and efficient record keeping.

Education Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry or equivalent with 1-3 yrs. experience in the application of ssNMR Spectroscopy to structurally characterize pharmaceutically relevant small molecules.
