Cortex Consultants LLC
Scientist IV - NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy)
Cortex Consultants LLC, Ridgefield, Connecticut, us, 06877
Overview
Scientist IV - NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy) at Cortex Consultants LLC. Solid State NMR Spectroscopist – Material and Analytical Sciences (MAS) department, Ridgefield, CT. This is a temporary contract position aimed at expanding scientific skills and contributing to drug development processes. Duties & Responsibilities
Apply skill in solid-state NMR (ssNMR) spectroscopy to acquire and interpret data (1D and 2D 1H, 19F, 13C, 15N, etc.) for molecular structure elucidation. Characterize pharmaceutical materials such as particles, powders, and suspensions to guide robust drug substance and drug product development. Evaluate and characterize a broad range of materials, including crystalline and non-crystalline small molecule APIs, biologics, excipients, drug product intermediates, and drug products. Apply quantitative ssNMR methods to measure components of APIs and drug products. Utilize molecular modeling and predictive tools with technologies such as solution/solid state NMR and X-ray crystallography to enable 3D structural evaluation at the atomic and molecular level. Ensure back-up and retrieval of all ssNMR data. Plan and perform experiments with minimal supervision to support structural predictions. Stay current with relevant scientific literature and apply knowledge to design, modify and implement new experiments. Write protocols, methods and technical reports; provide scientific interpretation of results with minimal guidance. Present findings at internal scientific meetings. Skills
Background in use of solution NMR for structure elucidation is highly desired. Experience with solid-state NMR sample preparation, data acquisition and interpretation of multinuclear NMR data is required. Experience implementing and troubleshooting ssNMR experiments. Experience changing Bruker ssNMR probes is required. Basic understanding of molecular structure, inter-atomic distances, hydrogen bonding, torsion angle strain, hydrophobic and hydrophilic interactions. Experience applying ssNMR to study biological systems is a plus. Understanding of modern computational methods such as qm-DFT, Monte Carlo methods, etc. Proficiency with molecular modeling software (e.g., Gaussian, Schrödinger, Materials Studio, CCDC software). Requirements
Familiar with HPC clusters, Linux environment and associated job submission programs. Experience collaborating with diverse teams and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience with preparing and analyzing membrane protein samples is a plus. Excellent laboratory practices to ensure safety and sample integrity. Excellent oral and written communication skills, highly organized with efficient record keeping. Background in use of solution NMR for structure elucidation is desired. Education
Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry or equivalent with 1-3 years of experience applying ssNMR Spectroscopy to structurally characterize pharmaceutically relevant small molecules. Seniority level
