The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a tenure-line position at the

Associate Professor

level in the area of batteries and/or energy storage. Energy storage is an interdisciplinary field with opportunities for collaboration across Penn State, combining fundamental research in materials, chemical kinetics, control theory, and systems engineering with a wide range of applications. This position is co-funded by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Institute of Energy and the Environment (IEE) at Penn State. Position specifics The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop an internationally recognized, externally funded research program, and contribute to the operation and promotion of the department, college, university, and the profession through service. The candidate should be a collaborative leader who will promote excellence and innovation in interdisciplinary research and participate in interdisciplinary research collaborations. Assistant

or

Associate Professor

level and is co-funded through Penn State University’s Institute of Energy and the Environment. Qualifications The

Assistant Professor

should possess a Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related field by the appointment start date; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher or researcher; and must show evidence of growth in scholarly or professional achievement. The

Associate Professor

should possess the same qualifications, with evidence of an established reputation in scholarly or professional achievement.
