U.S. Electrical Testing specializes in electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, and commissioning services for mission-critical facilities, secure environments, commercial and industrial clients, and electrical contractors. Our capabilities include emergency response, engineering services, and turn-key installation and repair. In this role, you will perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, switchgear, relays, and motor control centers, both in the field and in a shop environment. An understanding of electrical distribution systems and the use of electrical test equipment is required. You will contribute to a safe working environment for colleagues and customers and support project success. The position is primarily based at the Blue Plains facility in Washington DC, with some local travel expected. Responsibilities Provides electrical, high-voltage (HV), and substation testing, installation, maintenance, and repair on electrical equipment and systems, including power distribution systems. Tasks involve testing, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, modification, and general maintenance of complex AC/DC electrical and electronic equipment such as motors, transformers, generators, relays, switching and control panels, voltage regulators, and batteries. Essential Functions: Performs substation inspections complying with applicable regulations. Conducts preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical and electronic systems. Performs troubleshooting and testing of electrical equipment, circuit breakers, and systems following established procedures. Operates electrical power distribution systems up to 69 KV. Takes infrared images to identify mechanical and electrical issues. Maintains testing, repair, installation, and replacement tools and equipment. Handles installation of complex electrical and electronic systems up to 69KV. Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety from electrical and other hazards. Implements Lock-Out-Tag-Out, Arc Flash, and confined space entry protocols. Performs maintenance tasks across multiple trades as needed. Maintains electrical equipment and systems housekeeping. Uses MAXIMO CMMS to review and document maintenance work. Performs safe switching and grounding of electrical components. Follows safety rules and regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, and NEC standards. Qualifications High School diploma or GED with 2+ years of experience. Current or within 12 months, obtain and maintain NETA, NICET, or equivalent certification in substation testing and maintenance. Valid Motor Vehicle Operating License. Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles related to complex systems. Ability to use electrical test equipment for diagnostics. Proficiency with hand and power tools, rigging, and lifting equipment. Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and OSHA regulations. Good communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with office systems and industry-specific software. Can relocate a 12-foot ladder without assistance. Works at heights up to 60 feet, climbing scaffolds and ladders. Performs physical activities including walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching. Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and hearing. Recognizes problems and applies rules to solve them. Pay Range: USD $24.00 - USD $35.00 /Hr.
