About U.S. Electrical Testing Specializing in electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, and commissioning services, we serve mission-critical facilities, secure environments, commercial and industrial clients, and electrical contractors. Our capabilities include emergency response, engineering services, and turn-key installation and repair. In this role, you will perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, switchgear, relays, and motor control centers, both in the field and in a shop environment. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and electrical test equipment is required. You will contribute to a safe working environment and ensure project success. This position is primarily based at the Blue Plains facility in Washington DC, with some local travel possible. Responsibilities Summary: Provide electrical, high-voltage (HV), and substation testing, installation, maintenance, and repair on electrical equipment and systems, including power distribution systems. Tasks involve testing, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, modification, and general maintenance of complex AC/DC electrical and electronic equipment such as motors, transformers, generators, relays, switching and control panels, voltage regulators, and batteries. Essential Functions: Perform substation inspections following applicable regulations. Conduct preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and controls. Troubleshoot and test electrical equipment, circuit breakers, and systems per procedures. Operate electrical power distribution systems up to 69 KV. Use infrared imaging to identify mechanical and electrical issues. Maintain testing, repair, and installation tools and equipment. Install complex electrical and electronic systems up to 69KV. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety. Implement Lock-Out-Tag-Out, Arc Flash, and confined space protocols. Coordinate maintenance tasks across multiple trades. Maintain electrical equipment and systems housekeeping. Utilize MAXIMO CMMS to review and document work. Perform safe switching and grounding procedures. Follow safety rules, OSHA, NFPA, and NEC regulations. Qualifications High School diploma or GED with 5+ years of experience, or an associate's degree with 4 years of related experience. Current or within 12 months, acquire and maintain NETA, AVO, NICET, or equivalent certification in substation testing and maintenance. Valid Motor Vehicle Operating License. Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and test equipment. Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics. Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, OSHA standards. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with standard office and industry software.
