The University of Colorado is seeking an Open Rank Assistant to Associate Professor to join a pediatric and young adult hip preservation practice within the Department of Orthopedics and the Center for Children\'s Surgery. The role involves clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activity in pediatric and adolescent hip disorders. Key Responsibilities

Simple and complex orthopedic operative and non-operative management of hip disorders, including hip dysplasia, Perthes, SCFE, syndromic and congenital disorders. Provide attending call coverage and urgent surgical coverage as needed by the department of pediatric orthopedics. Perform clinical research related to specific conditions and assist in preparation of manuscripts for publication; assist with research training and supervision of graduate and medical students and residents; assist with preparation of grants and project reports. Provide fracture reductions in ER or office as needed, but not conscious sedation. Practice safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods. Coordinate the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinic; work with the team to ensure smooth operation of the clinic. Write progress notes on patients\' office and hospital charts indicating patient status and treatment procedures performed; maintain other records as required. Provide health education to patients and families; may train and supervise medical students, residents, fellows, Physician Assistant students, and other health professional students engaged in clinical activities. Enhance professional growth through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Participate in educational programs including weekly academic conference, journal club, and symposia; assist in organizing educational activities. Participate in community outreach events including giving educational talks, organizing, planning, and attending. Develop written educational materials and treatment protocols for specific conditions and post-operative care. Prepare and present PowerPoint and poster presentations for educational purposes at institutional, local, and national meetings. Become proficient in documentation and use of the Electronic Medical Record and serve as a resource to other health care providers. Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations; assess and treat acute/chronic medical problems focusing on the hip, pelvis, and trauma diagnoses; provide direct patient care to a specified patient population. Write prescriptions for medications, PT, OT, imaging studies, and DME as needed; complete FMLA and other forms and school notes as needed. Provide pre-op, intra-op and post-op care; write appropriate orders, including those for narcotics and other controlled substances; some casting, splinting, and dressing may be required. Onsite at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Board certified/board eligible Orthopedic Surgeon Completion of an Orthopedic fellowship with an emphasis on pediatric and adolescent hip preservation Current Medical License BLS certified Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in the management of pediatric and young adult hip disorders Research Experience Evidence of scholarly activity Experience in an academic setting Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Interest in orthopedic pediatric and adolescent hip preservation in both clinical and research settings Self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity environment Interest in medical research; basic science and/or clinical experience is highly desirable Excellent communication and interpersonal skills How to Apply
