Research Technicians (Roh-Johnson Lab) – University of Utah Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting ongoing scientific investigations, primarily involving mouse handling and mammalian cell culture. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment. Responsibilities

Animal Work: Perform various mouse experimental procedures (e.g., injections, dissections, tissue collection, surgery); maintain accurate records of mouse colony status and experimental data in accordance with IACUC protocols; perform routine animal husbandry tasks (e.g., genotyping, weaning, health monitoring); perform advanced mouse surgical procedures, including intracranial injections and surgeries. Mammalian Cell Culture: Perform aseptic cell culture techniques, including passaging, media preparation, cryopreservation, genetic modification, and thawing of various mammalian cell lines and primary human cells; maintain detailed records of cell line inventory and experimental procedures; contribute to the optimization of cell culture protocols. Laboratory Maintenance And Support: Order and maintain laboratory supplies and reagents; prepare common laboratory solutions and buffers; ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of laboratory equipment; maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment; adhere to all safety regulations and institutional guidelines. Data Recording And Analysis: Accurately record experimental data in laboratory notebooks and electronic databases; assist with basic data organization and preliminary analysis; prepare presentation slides and present data in group meetings. Lentiviral: Production, handling, and titration of lentiviral vectors. Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) containment practices. Minimum Qualifications

Equivalency Statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Research Technician, I (little to no related experience) or Research Technician, II (at least 1 year of related experience). Details
