Assistant or Associate Professor in Theoretical or Experimental Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics (AMOP) – Department of Physics, College of Arts and Sciences, Ohio State University. Position Overview

The Department of Physics at The Ohio State University announces a tenure-track faculty hire in theoretical or experimental Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (AMOP). The appointment is effective in Autumn 2026 at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. OSU AMOP is a top-tier interdisciplinary program, with impact highlighted by the 2023 Nobel Prize to Pierre Agostini. OSU operates two national user facilities (NeXUS and Scarlet). The successful candidate will complement and enhance AMOP competencies (such as quantum information, attosecond physics, and high-intensity laser-plasma interaction) and contribute to OSU’s ongoing efforts as a major hub in AMO science for the future. Responsibilities

Foster cross-disciplinary research with sustained impact. Develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring. Contribute to the teaching (graduate and undergraduate) and service missions of the University. Education and Experience

Required:

PhD in Physics or a closely related field. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to building a welcoming intellectual community, in line with OSU’s Shared Values. Desired:
