Overview
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Colorado College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish and Portuguese to begin Fall 2026. This position will mainly contribute to the Spanish Program and will also teach in the Portuguese Program (typically 1 course) as part of their regular yearly teaching load. We are looking for a colleague whose research encompasses Hispanic Studies and Luso-Brazilian Studies. Areas of expertise may include but are not limited to: Transatlantic/Transpacific Studies, Migration, Diaspora and Border Studies, Environmental Studies, and/or Critical Discourse Studies. The successful candidate is a dedicated educator who will be able to teach at all levels of our Spanish and Portuguese curriculum, with a focus on language instruction. The candidate is also expected to contribute to our departmental study abroad programs and work closely with students via co-curricular and community-building programming. Colorado College is a nationally recognized, residential liberal arts and sciences college enrolling approximately 2,100 students from across the US and around the world. The College, located on a 99-acre campus in Colorado Springs, is distinguished by its immersive learning and pedagogy made possible by the Block Plan, in which professors teach, and students take, one course at a time. Each block is three and a half weeks long, allowing for unique teaching and learning strategies. Professors have a six-block teaching duty in the eight-block year, where one of the six blocks may be assigned to supervising senior and independent projects where the work is spread out across the year rather than completed in a conventional block. PhD in related field by start of employment and native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and Portuguese. Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience, demonstrated commitment to language teaching, and a commitment to equity and belonging are preferred. The successful candidate will also be committed to departmental and college-wide service, and to strengthening the Spanish and Portuguese programs at CC by working closely with students and engaging them through co-curricular and community-building programming.
