Overview

The Control Technician 3 is responsible for the fabrication of control panels, field installation, and commissioning procedures related to control panels and field instrumentation. This role includes troubleshooting & calibration of field instruments, equipment, and control panels, as well as testing, analysis, documentation, and updating drawings of finished control panels. The technician is also responsible for the care of all M.C. Dean, Inc. provided shop tools, meters, and related equipment. Responsibilities: Follow verbal instructions and read instructions such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly. Perform sheet metal work, punching holes, wiring, painting, and welding. Provide on-the-job training to new employees. Understand and follow company procedures for ordering, storing, receiving, and returning materials and tools. Ensure work is completed according to schedule and quality goals are met. Require at least three years of experience in a shop environment and a minimum of one year of electrical experience, with a high school diploma or GED. Years of Experience:

6 - 8 years with a high school degree Certifications: Obtain, at the company's expense, CPR and First Aid certifications within six months of hire and maintain this certification during employment. Pass a background check and drug test. Work Experience: Ability to interpret control circuits, schematics, and line diagrams. Ability to select control components, read, and prepare BOMs according to specifications, NEC, and UL508A standards. Ability to size circuit breakers and fuses for control and power circuits per standards. Experience in control panel fabrication, design, layout, and installation of components. Experience with installation and troubleshooting of Building Automation Systems/DDC, Distech, Siemens, Niagara. Ability to install, wire, and test wiring of PLCs, VFDs, and other control components. Wire, test, and document control panels and circuits as required. Proficiency with multi-function meters and test equipment. Understanding of industrial automation and control schemes. Ability to troubleshoot, replace, install, and relocate industrial control circuits and components. Use of Tools: Power tools including drills, saws, punch sets (corded, cordless, hydraulic). Multimeters, Hi-Pot, Meggar, Relay Tester, Resistance Tester, Ground Tester, Oscilloscope, and software for wiring and testing. Abilities: Lift at least 100 pounds and 60 pounds for extended periods. Relocate a 12-foot ladder without assistance. Work at heights up to 60 feet, climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, lifts, and ladders. Perform physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead routinely. Possess good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, hearing, and communication skills in English. Use ladders within weight limits while carrying tools. Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong, without necessarily solving the problem. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers.
