Overview
The Control Technician 4 is responsible for fabricating control panels, field installation, and commissioning procedures related to control panels and field instrumentation. The role includes troubleshooting and calibration of field instruments, testing and analysis, documentation, and updating drawings of finished control panels. The technician is also responsible for caring for all M.C. Dean, Inc. provided shop tools, meters, and associated equipment.
Responsibilities:
Follow verbal instructions and read work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly.
Perform sheet metal work, punching holes, wiring, painting, and welding.
Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
Understand and follow company procedures for ordering, storing, receiving, and returning materials and tools.
Ensure work is completed according to schedule and quality goals are met.
Minimum of three years of experience in a shop environment and at least one year of electrical experience with a high school diploma or GED.
Experience and Certifications:
8-10 years of experience with a high school degree.
Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications within six months of hire.
Pass a background investigation and drug test.
Work Experience:
Ability to interpret control circuits, schematics, and line diagrams.
Ability to select control components and prepare BOMs according to specifications and standards.
Ability to size circuit breakers and fuses per standards.
Experience in control panel fabrication, design, layout, and installation.
Experience with Building Automation Systems/DDC, Distech, Siemens, Niagara.
Ability to install, wire, and test PLCs, VFDs, and other control components.
Proficiency with test equipment and understanding of industrial control schemes.
Ability to troubleshoot and replace control circuits and components in industrial environments.
Tools:
Use of various power tools, meters, and testing equipment including Fluke meters, Hi-Pot, Meggar, Oscilloscope, and software for wiring and testing controls.
Abilities:
Lifting at least 100 pounds and working at heights up to 60 feet.
Climbing ladders, scaffolds, and working on aerial lifts.
Performing physical activities like walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching routinely.
Good vision, color perception, hearing, and communication skills.
Recognizing problems and applying rules to solve them.
Detail-oriented with good observational skills.
