Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (State) Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (Federal) Scope of Position : The Science Educator must love teaching; they will work with other staff members, scientists, teachers, and volunteers to deliver Asombro’s award-winning, place-based science education programs (primarily classroom and schoolyard lessons and some field trips) to the diverse student population of the border region in southern New Mexico. The Science Educator must be excited to share the wonders of science and the desert to K-12 students through fun, hands-on, unique, standards-aligned lessons. The Science Educator will teach Asombro’s existing lessons and will have opportunities to collaboratively develop new lessons when funding and time allow. Must be creative, adaptable, and willing to work nontraditional hours on occasion. This position requires excellent communication skills, willingness to be a team player, and excitement that no workday will ever be the same. Major Job Responsibilities: 1) Prepare for and deliver Asombro’s award-winning science education programs (including classroom lessons, field trips to Asombro’s Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park, and public programs) to K-12 students throughout New Mexico (approx. 80%). Some work for this position will be with Spanish-English bilingual students and English learners. 2) Assist with other Asombro science education and administrative projects, such as teacher professional development workshops, collaborative projects with other organizations, lesson revision and development, organizational communication, fundraising, maintenance activities, and other duties as needed (approx. 20%). We have a well-established Fisheries Program in the CSKT Natural Resources Department located in Polson, Montana, with suitable other locations in the area within commuting distance. The Fisheries Biologist II is a technical and skilled professional position, responsible for planning, organizing, and carrying out field and office work related to assessing fisheries of the Flathead Reservation and identifying factors impacting those fisheries. A Fisheries Biologist II in our office is a person with a minimum qualification of a Master’s of Science degree in Fisheries Biology or related field. We also value professional certification, or eligibility for certification, by the American Fisheries Society. In addition to experience in field work, we also are looking for a person with experience in program planning and management. The work on the aquatic landscapes found on the Flathead Reservation includes management, protection, restoration and enhancement of fisheries in high mountain lakes and streams, valley streams and reservoirs (some of which are impacted by irrigation and other land management actions), wetlands, and the Flathead Lake – River system, and hydropower relicensing. Some duties and needed skills include: Needed skills include operation of electrofishing equipment and other standard fishery sampling gear (boats/motors, ATVs, 4x4 vehicles). The person selected for this position may require training and certification in the safe use of electrofishing techniques, and the safe operation of a motor boats. Knowledge of ecological principles, basic statistics, population dynamics, related life sciences, chemistry and physics related to fisheries management, fluvial geomorphology, and the principles of fisheries biology are necessary skills for this position. We work in a dynamic area, with a variety of landownership. The person selected for this job must have the ability to communicate effectively with private landowners, the public and fellow workers through report writing and planning, public forums, scientific presentations, and the news media. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required. Wildlife Program Manager - Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians The Wildlife Program Manager, under the direction of the Natural Resources Division Director, oversees a biological-based terrestrial ecology program necessary for the proper management of tribal wildlife, lands, and related ecosystems, the regulation of tribal wildlife and vegetation harvest, and fire management in the 1836 Treaty Ceded Territory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following) Program planning, development, and direction and supervision of program staff. Directs wildlife, vegetation, and ecological assessments, analyses, management planning, harvest regulation, policy review, and restoration activities. Develops recommendations for wildlife and vegetation harvest regulation, permitting and reporting processes, and species/ecosystem management planning. Reviews other agencies\' policy and regulatory actions and prepares formal responses with appropriate analyses and recommendations. Serves as wildlife, vegetation, and terrestrial ecology and policy expert in inter-governmental management processes. Co-develops, reviews, and enforces Tribal policies and procedures. Oversees grant acquisition, administration, and reporting. Oversees financial administration with budget development, review, and monitoring. Ensures program compliance and reporting to funding agencies, Tribal, Federal, State, and local agencies and government. Serves as a general point of contact for the Division on tribal wildlife, forestry, wetland, and fire issues at Tribal, Federal, State, and local levels. Takes a lead role in engaging tribal priorities in management plans and strategies. Oversees outreach on wildlife, vegetation, and related ecosystems. REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Master’s Degree in Ecology, Botany, Forestry, or related field required. Experience: Minimum two years’ vegetation and/or wildlife ecology management experience required in addition to above stated education requirements. Certification/License: Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver’s license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with the Sault Tribe’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy which may include random drug tests. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Grant administration, documentation and reporting skills required. Strong understanding of Lake States vegetation, wildlife, ecological communities, and their management required. Knowledge of vegetation data collection techniques, population dynamics, statistical analysis, and modeling required. Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database, population modeling, and statistical analysis software. Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) required.
