Patrol designated areas by vehicle and foot to identify safety hazards, enforce laws, and deter crime; maintain a visible presence. Respond to emergency calls, evaluate situations, perform crowd control, administer emergency medical aid as needed. Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations; interview witnesses; collect, preserve, and process evidence. Conduct surveillance, serve warrants and summonses; perform searches and detain suspects; arrest, transport, and process violators. Interact with the campus community; mediate disputes and provide legal rights guidance; crisis mediation for domestic, civil, or crisis situations. Operate communications equipment; complete detailed reports; prepare cases for court appearances and testimony. Enforce laws, ordinances, and institutional regulations; direct traffic and investigate accidents. Inspect and maintain equipment; utilize weapons and law enforcement tools; assist in training and directing personnel. Participate in specialized unit activities (e.g., crime prevention, investigations, or special events). Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: Completion of a Maryland Police Training Commission (MPTC) recognized police academy program and successful completion of a Police Field Training program; MPTC Certification Other: Certification as a sworn Police Officer recognized by MPTC and valid Maryland Non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver’s license Clery Act designated campus security authority (CSA) and compliance with Clery Act requirements At least 21 years old; U.S. Citizen; vision 20/100 (correctable to 20/30) with corrective lenses; no felony convictions; physically capable Availability for weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, on-call; background check, drug test, polygraph, and psychological evaluation may be required Finalists may be subject to medical inquiries/examinations; must maintain MPTC certification Employment Details
