Director, Credit and Collections

Trimble Inc. . Location: Westminster, CO or Dayton, OH (Hybrid). Department: Corporate Finance. This is a strategic leadership role to transform credit and collections, optimize processes, and drive financial excellence through automation and data-driven decision making. Reporting to the VP, Finance Transformation.
What You Will Do
Lead a global credit & collections vision that balances growth and risk for Trimble’s hybrid software + hardware model.
Champion process and tech improvements across credit approval, order-to-cash, and collections workflows to boost speed, accuracy, and scalability.
Build and mentor a high-impact, results-driven team focused on performance, accountability, and service.
Oversee credit risk assessments for new and existing customers, considering financial health, contract structures, and industry dynamics.
Direct collections efforts to reduce DSO and bad debt across subscription and hardware revenue streams—delivering on SLAs and business goals.
Provide data-driven insights and reporting on aging receivables, credit risk, and bad debt trends; present strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Ensure audit-ready compliance with regulatory, internal control, and audit standards.
Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Operations to support healthy growth and customer experience.
Manage relationships with external vendors (third-party collection agencies and credit bureaus) as needed.
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CCE) preferred.
8-10 years of progressive credit and collections experience, with 3-5 years in a leadership role.
Experience in a company with software/SaaS and hardware product lines is highly preferred.
Proven track record of managing large accounts receivable portfolios and improving DSO.
Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and make sound credit decisions.
Excellent leadership, team-building, and interpersonal communication abilities.
In-depth knowledge of credit risk assessment methodologies, commercial credit laws, and collections best practices.
Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite, SAP) and dedicated credit & collections software (e.g., FIS/GetPaid).
Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Location & Role Details In a hybrid role, you will establish a mutually agreeable schedule for in-office time based on role and business needs. Typical hybrid arrangements are 1-3 days per week, or 20%-60% of the month in the office.
