Admission to the Florida Bar
and
two (2) years of professional experience
in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law or in administrative or judicial hearings. Responsibilities
Render requested legal advice and counsel to the Commissioner, the Commissioner’s staff, and other department employees. Handle complex cases at trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts, as well as administrative proceedings under the Florida Administrative Procedures Act. Handle contract matters, real estate proceedings, legal opinions, and legal research; prepare, review, and approve contracts, leases, deeds, or other legal instruments; assist with real estate closings involving department property. Attend staff meetings and provide litigation updates; stay informed on relevant litigation and court decisions impacting statutes related to the department’s responsibilities. Represent the Commissioner, the General Counsel’s office, and the department in liaison with the Florida Attorney General and other agencies; participate in judicial and bar functions. Attend legislative committee meetings, monitor proposed legislation, and draft or supervise drafting of legislation and regulations; conduct rule adoption procedures and public hearings; monitor outside counsel. Draft rules and regulations; conduct conferences, workshops, and public hearings; perform related duties as required. Benefits and equal opportunity
