Overview
Paralegal – Civil Litigation M&A Law Firm, P.C. | Schaumburg, IL
At M&A Law Firm, a boutique litigation practice based in Schaumburg, Illinois, we are committed to delivering legal services that are custom-tailored to the distinctive challenges of each case. Our guiding philosophy, Creativity + Precision = Exceptional Outcomes, shapes every strategy we deploy, blending innovative problem-solving with meticulous execution. With a focus on business, construction, real estate, commercial, and civil litigation, our team is dedicated to navigating complex legal landscapes with both art and science. We pride ourselves on standing out in the crowded legal field, driven by a culture that values teamwork, integrity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence on behalf of our clients.
As a Litigation Paralegal at M&A Law Firm, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our attorneys across a wide caseload, including high-stakes discovery and trial preparation. Working onsite in Schaumburg, you will directly assist two attorneys, ensuring that cases progress smoothly and efficiently. Your contributions will be essential to helping the firm manage its growing docket, enabling attorneys to focus on advocacy while you provide the backbone of the organization, drafting, and research that fuels client success.
Responsibilities At this experience level, you will manage your own caseload from intake through resolution with minimal supervision, independently conducting client interviews, organizing case documents, and drafting routine pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and motions (including motions to dismiss, summary judgment, and motions to compel) without needing templates. You will prepare courtesy copies and comprehensive document productions, privilege logs, and coordinate with clients on their document collection obligations, particularly for construction and real estate cases involving voluminous contracts and records. E-filing in Illinois state courts should be second nature, as you will handle all electronic filings, monitor deadlines across multiple cases, and maintain court dockets without constant guidance on local rules. You will schedule and coordinate depositions, prepare deposition notices and summaries, and organize key documents to prepare attorneys for depositions. While attorneys handle strategic discussions, you will serve as the primary point of contact for client status updates and scheduling matters. Trial preparation should be a strength, including preparing exhibit lists, witness lists, trial notebooks, coordinating expert witnesses, and preparing jury instructions for complex business disputes and construction defect cases.
