And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for. About the Role NYT Cooking helps you discover and cook the world's best recipes. The NYT Cooking team is tight knit and interdisciplinary — we collaborate with our design, data, product, and editorial partners to prototype, develop and scale new features for both our responsive website and mobile apps. We are made up of small, focused groups tasked with building great cooking experiences on a variety of devices and platforms, including web, iOS and Android. You will report to the Engineering Manager for the Cooking Publishing team. Responsibilities: Work on the infrastructure and overall health of the Cooking platform, creating better tools that support other Cooking engineers who in turn support our editors and end-users. Collaborate with technical partners within the Cooking engineering organization and with other teams across The Times to support Cooking engineers in improving the Cooking product for end-users. Help create infrastructure and monitoring tools and expand the backend. Automate delivery pipelines and increase productivity across the Cooking engineering team and other engineering teams. Help create a new GraphQL backend and ensure performance and maintainability across applications. Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world. Basic Qualifications: 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP or other cloud provider products and services 2+ years of experience using Kubernetes or similar container orchestration Experience with Docker or similar containerization Experience with Infrastructure as code tooling such as Terraform Experience troubleshooting complex systems using monitoring tools such as DataDog, Sentry or similar Preferred Qualifications: Experience with automation, build tools and release engineering Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Drone, GitLab, etc.) Experience deploying and maintaining infrastructure to support large engineering teams This role requires limited on-call hours. An on-call schedule will be determined when you join, taking into account team size and other variables. The annual base pay range for this role is between:
