Android Engineer, App Platforms role at The New York Times. The NYT App Platform team builds shared Android tools that support all NYT apps—News, Games, Cooking, Crosswords, and The Athletic. You will work on foundational libraries that enable faster, more seamless native experiences for millions of readers. This is a hybrid role based in New York City, reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, App Platform team. You typically come into the office two days per week. Build and maintain Android infrastructure and shared libraries Collaborate with product teams to solve cross-app challenges Write unit, integration, and UI tests Contribute to a culture of inclusion, learning, and journalistic integrity Basic Qualifications
2+ years of Android development experience Proficient in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and reactive programming Experience with GraphQL APIs Preferred Qualifications
Experience in mobile platform engineering Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Android Interest in building scalable systems across multiple apps Salary information: The annual base pay range for this role is between $110,000 - $130,000 USD.
