Sr. Project Engineer, Rail Bridge at GFT is a role on the Transportation Team in Texas with a hybrid work model. Regular attendance at one of our Texas offices in Austin, Fort Worth, or Houston is required. What You Will Do
GFT is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer - Rail Bridge to join our Transportation Team in Texas. The role focuses on structural design, rehabilitation, and inspection of bridges and other structures, with preparation of load ratings, construction documents, specifications, and estimates. Duties may include construction inspection services. The candidate must have strong technical skills, excellent communication, ability to travel for projects, field bridge inspections, and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team. Perform structural bridge design utilizing AREMA standards and calculate structural quantities. Manage projects including design, reports, load ratings, plans, budgets, schedules, QC/QA reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating with staff. Check calculations and design drawings produced by others. Assist with CADD drawing development and production. Interpret contract changes and advise management on needed changes. Participate in non-design activities such as construction inspection and field data collection; may perform bridge inspections for highway and railway bridges. Keep Senior Project Manager informed of workload, schedule, scope changes, or additional services. Develop and present proposals to clients with Client Leaders. Maintain professional knowledge through workshops, publications, networks, and professional societies. Willingness to travel within the continental United States. What You’ll Bring To Our Firm
Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited program. Minimum 10 years’ experience in design and/or management of rail or railroad-focused projects. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas. Structures design experience using AREMA Manual for Railroad Engineering. Familiarity with Class I railroad bridge standards. Structural engineering background with knowledge of MicroStation and experience with design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Team-oriented with strong communication skills. Working knowledge of MS Office; experience with engineering design packages such as MicroStation and structural analysis tools (Bluebeam Revu, LEAP Bridge Concrete, LPILE, GROUP, RISA, or CSiBridge). Ability to perform field work including working at heights and in adverse weather; valid driver’s license. Ability to engage multiple perspectives when solving problems and to learn from peers. Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited program. Experience working directly with Class I railroads. AREMA member and Committee 8, 9, or 15 involvement. NHI 2-Week course – Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridge. Compensation
Salary range: $120,000 - $165,000, dependent on experience and location. Benefits
