Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) and Salt Lake Technical College (SLTech) are seeking a dynamic and student-centered faculty member to deliver classroom and lab instruction in a

competency-based, open-entry

environment. The position focuses on preparing students for industry certifications and meaningful employment through high-impact, hands-on learning in subject areas including

desktop support, networking, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, scripting, and Linux . Faculty members are expected to be

reflective practitioners , actively engaged in instructional innovation, curriculum development, student advising, and community and industry engagement. This position involves

collaboration, leadership, and service

across the college and broader community to ensure students succeed in a diverse and evolving technical landscape. Priority Review Date: October 15, 2025 Applications received by this date will have first consideration. Applications after this date will be reviewed on a need-by-need basis until a candidate is selected for hire. Selected finalist will be required to participate in a teaching demonstration and will be asked to provide recommendation letters. Deliver effective, hands-on instruction in a competency-based format across a range of IT subjects. Integrate active and applied learning techniques to engage students. Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and outcomes. Utilize appropriate instructional technologies and platforms. Maintain a regular campus presence, respond to students weekly, and work with students to learn concepts in a computer lab environment. Curriculum & Assessment

Develop, revise, and maintain curriculum aligned with industry standards and certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS). Ensure alignment with department Course Curriculum Outlines (CCOs) and learning outcomes. Participate in college-wide learning assessment initiatives and ongoing program evaluations. Supervise internships or clinical experiences as assigned. Student Support & Advising

Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment. Serve as a mentor and academic advisor, guiding students through pathways to certification and employment. Track and report student outcomes, including academic progress and job placement data. Professional Development & Industry Engagement

Maintain current knowledge in technical fields and teaching practices. Participate in professional associations and activities (e.g., conferences, certification renewals). Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison to community partners and employers. College & Community Service

Attend and contribute to department, school, and college-wide committees and initiatives. Support college recruitment, retention, and outreach efforts (e.g., Majors Fairs, industry events). Participate in strategic planning, budgeting processes, and curriculum advisory boards. Promote and model the values, mission, and goals of the College. Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in a related IT field. Relevant and current industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, Linux, AWS). Minimum of 3 years recent industry and/or teaching experience in information technology. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline. Certifications such as CCAI, MCT, CTT+, or other vendor-recognized credentials. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python). Experience with virtualization and cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS). Demonstrated success teaching in competency-based or open-entry/open-exit models.
