Summary The Interface Engineer will lead the development of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Documents (IDDs), establishing interfaces between external elements (including sensors) and Command and Control Systems. This role ensures ICDs/IDDs meet program standards, develops behavioral diagrams to document requirements, and creates detailed requirements in DOORS for implementation teams. The Interface Engineer will participate in interface working groups with the MDA customer and external element engineering organizations, and support program integration and test activities. The role may also support other interface engineers, requirements engineering, use case development, and logical architecture modeling as needed. The Interface Engineer will provide SP leaders with artifacts and system assessments for the assigned sensor interface as required.

Technical Skills and Experience Required

Understanding of systems engineering processes and principles

Proven track record applying systems engineering to develop product solutions

Experience in requirements elicitation and use case behavior diagrams to understand and decompose requirements

Experience with authoring ICDs/IDDs, including: message definition/processing rules; message formatting (XML, VMF, etc.); physical/network specifications and models (OSI); network topologies/devices; network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, etc.)

Development of behavioral models/diagrams (use cases, sequence, activity diagrams)

Excellent written and oral communication skills; experience with IBM DOORS is desirable

RMF-based cybersecurity experience; Agile or iterative development methods a plus

9+ years of professional experience in Systems Engineering or related discipline

Significant experience authoring ICDs/IDDs that are DID compliant and DoD standards

Ability to work in a team on SE products and artifacts per the program SEMP and processes

Experience authoring Missile Defense System (MDS) ICDs/IDDs is desirable

Experience authoring Complex Command and Control Systems ICDs/IDDs is desirable

Some travel required

Assigned to the program Systems Engineering Team within SEIT; may support non-interface SE activities

Education Requirements (Preferred)

Bachelor's Degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Software Engineering

Master's Degree in an Engineering Discipline

Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $120,000 - $145,000. Actual salary based on location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure, and business needs. Some positions may be eligible for variable incentive compensation.
