Job Summary Responsible for coordinating unit-based education for UT Southwestern professional clinical staff and unlicensed assistive personnel with regard to orientation and clinical education to ensure staff are able to demonstrate current competencies and meet professional standards of practice within an assigned areas.

Required Experience and Education
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing with licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing
Experience: 2 years of work and experience in an Emergency Department
Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing
Job Duties
Provide orientation, ongoing education and skills training for staff, including new hires and agency staff
Provide real-time input and just-in-time training on current staff's clinical practice
Remain a clinical expert and role model in applying nursing processes and evidence-based practice to manage the complex care needs of specific patient populations
Facilitate preceptor training, resident assignment, and preceptor competencies for the unit
Assist unit leadership in initial and annual competencies for new and current clinical staff
Perform annual unit-specific needs assessment and ongoing educational gap analysis
Serve as a facilitator to nurse and patient care technician residents and mentor their growth
Collaborate with clinical leaders to identify and prioritize goals and objectives to meet departmental needs
Provide educational programs on both formal and informal bases
Perform one staffing shift on the assigned unit, biweekly
Perform other duties as assigned
