R10072524 Environmental Health & Safety Manager (Open) Location: Anchorage, AK; Alaska (Branch ALALP) - Retail shop, Fairbanks, AK; Homer, AK; Kenai, AK; Palmer, AK; Wasilla, AK. The Alaska EHS Manager oversees the implementation, development and continuous improvement of comprehensive Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Industrial Management System (IMS) programs. This role will be responsible for all aspects of conformance and compliance to all applicable internal and external safety requirements including but not limited to OSHA, FMCSA, CGA, FDA, DOT, DHS, EPA, and CFRs. The ultimate goal is to ensure an accident- and injury-free work environment for Airgas associates, customers, and communities. This position is responsible for all aspects of Airgas safety and compliance for the State of Alaska and may support other areas within the region as needed, remotely or in-person.

Responsibilities
Adhere to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
Promote and demonstrate the Airgas accident- and injury-free culture.
Inform, encourage, and support associates in meeting or exceeding safety requirements.
Perform Safety Engagements and solicit feedback for program improvement.
Conduct audits and prepare summary reports for management on IMS/HSE/DOT/DHS activities.
Lead safety meetings; provide Safety & Compliance-related training; develop training content as appropriate.
Maintain regulatory permits, certifications, and licenses for Airgas plant and retail branch operations.
Develop, train, implement and support the Driver Mentor program in alignment with regional/divisional objectives.
Assist facility managers with EHS/IMS requirements, facility inspections, corrective actions, and closure actions.
May assist with pre-employment interviewing, driver demonstrations, and evaluations for safety-sensitive positions.
Provide Smith System Training for employees operating a vehicle; train and coach drivers on fleet safety practices.
Perform annual driver demonstrations; prepare findings and corrective-action recommendations; conduct follow-up coaching.
Respond to emergency situations in person; lead accident and injury investigations and incident reviews with management.
Coordinate with Safety Director and insurance providers for workers’ compensation and return-to-work initiatives.
Drive commercial vehicles as needed for training, demonstration, and emergencies.
Compile data and assist in Tier II, EPA’s RMP, and other environmental reporting for federal/state agencies.
Assist with safety records maintenance, regular IMS/Safety & Compliance reporting to management.
Lead the Alaska Airgas Emergency Response Operations (AERO) team.
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in industrial or occupational safety or related field; relevant disciplines may be considered. Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Safety Management Specialist (SMS) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred. Valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements preferred.
Required Length and Type of Experience: Minimum three to five years in a safety-focused role or safety leadership in related industry. Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, EPA, DHS, FDA rules and regulations. CDL experience preferred. Forklift experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA): Ability to work independently under tight deadlines; valid driver's license and clean driving record; proficient with Google systems; strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to wear required PPE.
